“Operation Showtime” began 24 years ago today, on February 28, 1993. It was the name of the raid on the Branch Davidian home and church in Waco, Texas. The 51-day standoff ended on April 19, 1993, with a total of 82 civilians dead and their property burned to the ground.

We recommend reading We’re All Branch Davidians Now and this piece from the twentieth anniversary of the raid, both articles written by historian Anthony Gregory.

This short video is worth watching, featuring Anthony and produced by the Independent Institute.

Carol Moore’s indispensable book, the Davidian Massacre, can be found online, but we suggest you purchase a copy.

Our friend Lucy Steigerwald has written a number of articles on Waco, too.

And last but not least, consider reading anything and everything written about Waco by our friend and longtime libertarian journalist, Jim Bovard.
