  • The US signs an agreement to sell Qatar $12 billion worth of F-15s. Obama announced the deal in November of 2016 and approved by the Senate. [Link]
  • The Senate passed a sanctions bill against Russia for meddling in the election. The vote was 97-2, with Senators Lee and Paul voting against the bill. The sanctions bill will now move to the house. [Link]
  • Aid agencies will try to deliver vaccines in Vanuatu with drones. [Link]
  • 14 people were killed by soldiers because people started to fight over food aid in Somalia. Most of those killed were civilians. [Link]
  • 19 people have been killed in a terror attack in Somalia’s capital. One terrorist attacked a car bomb to attack a hotel. Other terrorists took hostages at a restaurant. All the gunmen were killed in a shootout with police. [Link]

  • James Mattis claims the Obama policy of reducing troop levels in Afghanistan resulted in the Taliban making significant progress in Afghanistan. [Link]

  • ISIS fighters in Afghanistan seized the base at Tora Bora from the Taliban. Osama bin Laden used the base after 9/11. The Taliban have disputed that they lost the base to ISIS. [Link]

  • A UN war crimes investigator says there is a “staggering amount of civilian deaths” being caused by a US-supported invasion of Raqqa. [Link]
